Do you suffer from bloating and abdominal discomfort after you eat or  even most of the time?  This is one of the most common symptoms I see, and many people feel they just have to “suck it up” and live with it.

Although common, it is by no means “normal”.  Normal would indicate that the body is supposed to feel  this way, and the discomfort is what we should expect.  Although many people have, in fact, come to expect it as part of their daily lives, relief from bloating is possible!

Bloating can be the result of a variety of issues…food intolerances, insufficiency of natural enzymes, poor food combining, and overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria in the gut, to name a few.

Despite the fact that you may be doing your very best to eat in a healthy way, there may be some foods that your body just does not tolerate.  For example, take a good look at dairy products (foods made from milk), and see how your body responds with and without them.  See whether wheat is an issue for you.  These are some of the top offenders, but your body could be reacting to any food that’s out there.  Having food sensitivity testing is a quick way to pinpoint some of the other culprits.

No matter how healthy a food may be, your body won’t be able to handle it if it is not producing the enzymes needed to break down and digest it.  Case in point – perhaps you are familiar with “Lactose Intolerance”, or the pain, bloating, discomfort, and flatulence that many people get after consuming milk, because their body does not produce enough of the lactase enzyme to properly digest it.

Similar issues can occur with beans and fibre, other carbohydrates, proteins, and any other type of nutrient that your body is not equipped to break down.

If you’re trying to cut down the bloating, it may be that you need look no further than the way you are combining your foods.  Meat and potatoes are not necessarily a good pair, neither are those fruity desserts that follow your meal.  Fruits should be eaten alone, so that they do not start to ferment in your system when slowed down by heavier foods.

Have you ever noticed that your abdomen starts to swell even before you’ve finished eating your meal?  Do you bloat no matter what you put in your mouth?  You may have an overgrowth of unfriendly bacteria in your gut, that are being fed every time you eat.  These bacteria need to be eradicated, and replaced with friendlier ones, in order to eliminate the symptoms.
