Nip your Allergies in the Bud!
Spring is in the air!
For many kids, March break is here, and with it the excitement and enthusiasm that a few days off school in good weather can bring!
In a couple of weeks, Easter will take over with Easter egg hunts and the Easter Bunny.
It’s great to see young kids having a blast, running around, and getting some exercise (emerging from a winter that…well, wasn’t quite as bad as it could have been…!)
Try to pry them away from their electronic devices this week, if you have the time to engage them in some “we” time.
Outdoor activities, hikes, day-trips to open up their curiosity – all make for some very good memories. The plants and flowers are starting to sprout up already, so exploring nature might be an interesting option.
As the snow disappears, the grass turns greener, and the blossoms soon begin to open up, don’t forget that this time of year can also wreak havoc on seasonal allergy sufferers. If you know that this is you, remember that starting to deal with allergies early, rather than waiting for a full-blown attack, can seriously cut down suffering.
And if you’ve never had allergies before, but find yourself suddenly dealing with itchy, red eyes, runny nose, sneezing, congestion, or feeling extra tired…You could be developing new allergies.
Try nipping it in the bud before it has a chance to ruin your spring.
There are so many natural remedies and therapies to help decrease your symptoms. There are many over-the counter aids, as well as nutrients and other supplements that can help. Consider Vitamin C, quercetin, nettles, bioflavonoids, as well as homeopathics and gemmotherapies. These can help to modify the immune response so symptoms are not so pronounced. There are also some therapies that I do in-office that can dramatically help to improve the symptoms experienced by allergy sufferers. It’s best to start early, for maximum benefit.
